Tara The Matriarch Syrah 2013
Our Tara vineyard was planted in 2005 with two clones of syrah that had never been used in NZ. The experiment paid off with a wine that is consistently different to the sister "Fantail Island" Syrah.
The wine is named after our family Matriarch, Lorna Sunde, who planted the first vine over a gold coin in 2005.
The 2012-13 growing season was a season of two halves. The first half been cool and wet and the six weeks up to harvest being cool and completely dry. This wine reflects the season with moderate alcohol.
The wine is deep crimson and has complex aromas of black fruits and spice. The tannins are soft and appealing with excellent mid palate presence and very good length.
This is a dry wine and is a great accompaniment to red meat dishes with aromatic sauces.
It's action meets indulgence in The Waitakere Ranges, one of the spectacularly beautiful and diverse parts of New Zealand.View details

"We needed a space to complete a planning session. We chose Artisan Wines, a peaceful and quiet environment... perfect for our team of eight people. We took breaks when we needed, enjoyed fine food with some special homemade treats, great coffee and at the end of our day if we wanted a wine. A great affordable off site venue."
